The Operation Theater in Trauma center of Civil Hospital Pathankot is closed and in case of accidents, assault, or bone injury. Patients are either referred to Amritsar or going to private hospitals for treatment. The reason cited behind is non-arrival of medical equipments and supplies from Chandigarh due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

People going 100 kms away for treatment

Patients with Ayushman card going to Amritsar for treatment (100 km away from Pathankot) while, Patients without Ayushman card, who have undergone surgery for broken bones spending about 1 lakh for treatment in private hospitals. This has created problems not only for people in the district but also for the patients from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu&Kashmir who are coming for treatment in Civil Hospital Pathankot.

There are five orthopedic doctors in the Civil Hospital but only emergency operations are being done. Previous month, there were 25 to 30 patients being operated. This month due to absence of medical equipments and supplies from Chandigarh during this COVID-19 very less operation has been done. It is expected that the medical supplies will arrive soon from Chandigarh.
