Dead body of a young boy was found hanging from the flyover at Kotli Mughalan, a village on the Pathankot-Amritsar road. Locals informed the police about the incident. The man was identified as Mohit Agarwal 30-year-old, a resident of gali no 4, Indira Colony, Pathankot. The deceased had a laptop business near Kali Mata Temple Road. In the initial investigation, it seemed that the man committed suicide by hanging himself. But after the statement of family members and by Police investigation, a murder case is registered by the Police. The car Honda XR-V (PB35-X-5368) of the deceased was recovered from the incident site. The family also told Police that cash of one and a half lakh was missing as the deceased went to Mukerian to take payment. Police have registered a case under other sections including Murder.

Vinod Kumar, elder brother of deceased told police that on Wednesday Mohit closed his shop around 9 o’clock and called him that he is going to collect some payment from Mukerian and will be back by 10 pm. After 10:30 pm when he didn’t reach home the family started calling him but the phone was switched off. They searched for him all night and on Thursday morning two policemen came to their house and informed them about the incident. The family rejected that Mohit could commit suicide. They suspect that someone in rivalry may first hit him and then hanged with rope.
Police and Forensic team investigation
The Police and Forensic team reached the incident site and found that the car was parked under the flyover. The forensic team collected evidence, the whole area was sealed and no vehicle was allowed to pass through till the investigation was over.
Police Investigation found some evidence which suspect, robbery and murder
- The car parked under the flyover doesn’t seem to be logical.
- Black paint on the windshield of the car.
- Mobile phones were broken.
- No cash found in the car.
- The rope is tied around the neck several times.
- The mirror of the car is broken.
The body was sent for the Post-mortem to Civil Hospital Pathankot. Dr. Bhupendra Singh said that a panel of three doctors has been formed to investigate the matter. Dr. Deep Singh, Dr. Gagandeep, and Dr. Ramesh Dogra have been nominated to investigate the reason of death.SP (D) Prabhjot Singh Virk says that the CCTV footage near the incident area is checked to find any clues about the people involved. Mobile location and contacts of the deceased are investigated by the Police.
